7/17/04 Twin
Town American 4, North Colonie National 3
NCN lost their first Division III round robin game to Twin Town American 4-3.
NCN had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th, but failed
to move the runners in for the score. Great effort by the 12 yr olds as Pat
Murphy, Carm Volpe, Conner O'Malley, and Ryan Leonardo provided timely hits to
get NCN back into the game after going down 4-0 in the second inning. Troy
Williams did an exceptional job pitching coming in relief in the 3rd inning and
mowing down the Twin Town hitters for 3 innings no allowing any runs.
NCN's next game is Tuesday at 6 PM at East Greenbush. Congratulations to
Cohoes on their District 14 Championship as they came from the losers bracket to
beat East Greenbush in two consecutive games, 3-0 and 8-5.
7/13/04
NCN lost it’s second and final District 14 game 6-1 to finish 3rd overall in the tournament. Zach Nash had the only hit of the night versus the hard hurling Cohoe's Ace. Zach Quayle allowed 3 earned runs on 4 hits with 6 K's and scored NCN's only run. Defensive gem of the game -- Mike Soldani make an outstanding running catch in centerfield.
Our next game will be Saturday, July 17th at 10 AM versus Twin Town American in Division III of the Round Robin.
7/8/04
NCN lost it’s first District 14 game 11-0. Zach Nash had the lone hit and a nice sacrifice. Troy Williams allowed only 4 earned runs in the effort. Our next game is for the right to play East Greenbush for the district championship
7/6/04
Kyle Van Vleet delivered a walkoff two-out RBI single in the bottom of the 6th inning scoring Zach Nash that capped the second NC National comeback of the night. Earlier in the inning Zach Quayle displayed his speed stealing his way from first to home to tie the game after the ‘Burgh took a 4-3 lead in the top of the 6th.
After trailing 3-0, NCN chipped away with single runs led by Carm Volpe’s single in the 2nd, Ryan Leonardo’s single in the 4th, and Kyle Van Vleet’s double in the 5th. Greg Medici was perfect at the plate with a single and 2 walks.
Zach Quayle pitched 4 tough innings striking out 4 and twice working out of bases loaded jams. Van Vleet closed the game to record the win. Zach Nash grabbed a line drive that led to a double play for the defensive play of the game.
7/2/04
Troy William’s solo HR sparked a 5-run 5th inning that broke open the game for NC National. Zach Quayle had 3 singles on the night adding plenty of speed on the bases and Alex Palazzo contributed with an RBI-Double and a single.
Other offensive highlights included: Carm Volpe -- single and RBI, Ryan Leonardo -- Double, Zach Nash -- RBI Single, Kyle Van Vleet -- 2-RBI Double, and singles by Connor O’Malley and Mike Soldani.
Troy Williams added a very strong pitching performance striking out 10 in 5 innings for the win.

North Colonie American suffered its fourth loss in five games as they fell into a deep 7-0 hole in the second inning. To their credit, they battled to the end and put together a nice 4 run rally in the 4th inning. The North Colonie offense was led by Ryan Huttner, who had two singles, and Ben Capeless, who doubled in two runs during the 4-run 4th. Other offense was provided by Sean Dougherty and Billy Carroll, who had a single apiece.
The defensive highlights included a perfect relay from Billy Carroll in left field to Ben Capeless at SS, to Paul Englert at home to nail down a runner trying to score from first on a double to left center field. Other defensive highlights included a nice throw from Ryan Huttner in centerfield to Mike Dougherty at third base, who had to reach up to catch the throw, then put down a nice tag to gun down a runner attempting to go from first to third on a single.

North Colonie American came up with its first win of the All Star season thanks to the outstanding pitching of Sam Bellinger. Bellinger went the distance to record the victory, allowing only an unearned run in the sixth inning. Bellinger also limited Rensselaer to 4 hits, while striking out seven and walking none. Bellinger also added to his cause by singling and scoring in the second inning. Others providing offense were Joey Bilynsky and Billy Carroll, who each had a single.
Bilynsky also continues to shine at shortstop, making several fine assists. Other defensive highlights include Steven DeRoziere's strike from left field to Paul Englert at home plate to take down a Rensselaer runner attempting to score.

North Colonie once again built an early lead but was unable to hold on as a hard hitting South Troy team battled back to take a 10-8 victory at the Bought Baseball Complex. North Colonie took advantage of some shaky South Troy pitching to take a 6-2 lead in the second inning. Singles from Joey Bilynsky, Paul Englert, Sam Hyatt and Sean Dougherty led the early attack, driving in runs that resulted from 5 walks issued over the first two innings. Th lone other hit came from Billy Carroll in the fifth inning.
The defense was led by Ryan Huttner's recording of consecutive outs that ended the fifth inning for South Troy. With the bases loaded, Huttner traced down a long fly ball at the wall to record the second out of the inning, and then closed the inning off by making a fine running, diving catch off a soft liner to shallow center field.

North Colonie American squad suffered its second loss in a row, this time to a hard hitting Twin Town American Team. North Colonie held tough for the first three innings until Twin Town broke things open with a sixth run 4th inning. The North Colonie offense was led by Mike Dougherty's two singles, and Ryan Huttner and Joey Bilynsky, who had a single apiece.

The North Colonie American squad lost a heartbreaker in its District 14 opener 8-7 to a strong willed Brunswick team. North Colonie built an early 7-1 lead thanks to numerous Brunswick miscues, but was unable to hold on as a heavy hitting Brunswick squad stormed back with four runs in the sixth to tie the game and force extra innings, which they won with a run in the bottom of the seventh. The North Colonie offense was led by Billy Carroll, Jonathan Babie, and Sam Hyatt who had a single apiece. On the defensive side, Joey Bilynsky had an outstanding game at shortstop, with four assists on hard hit ground balls and two putouts on line drives.
