The tournament was not a loss though as news came from the District office that due to the inability of District 1 to send a team, the runner-up from District 4 (No.Colonie) would be invited to the state tournament. So the boys have to suit up again for play starting next Saturday, July 12, at Tawasentha Park in Guilderland.

The game started slowly and in the third, No.Colonie jumped to an early lead when Craig Ward was hit by a pitch. Casey Haydock then laid down a sacrifice bunt and Ward went all the way to third. He scored on Sean Fruscio grounder to second that was misplayed and Sean ended up on second. That would be the only run scored as one of the more controversial calls of the weekend cut No.Colonie's inning short.

Cohoes would storm back with four in the fourth highlighted by Joe Cioffi's long home run to left.

No.Colonie's fourth saw Mike Casey triple, Ryan Gardner walk, Craig Ward get hit by a pitch for the second time and Casey Haydock draw a bases loaded walk for the lone fourth inning run.

Cohoes came right back in the fifth and got one more to pad their lead to 5-2.

No more scoring until the bottom of the sixth when again Ryan Gardner walked, and with one out so did Craig Ward and Casey Haydock laid down a beautiful bunt single to load the bases. After Sean Fruscio walked to force in a run, Eric Feiden singled up the middle to score Ward and Haydock and tie the game.

Cohoes could not score in the top of the seventh and North Colonie came to bat needing a run to win. Mike Casey's ground ball to short was thrown wide of first and Mike ended up at second. After stealing third, Ryan Gardner walked for the third consecutive time and Chris Manico was hit by a pitch. Craig Ward then hit a 1-1 pitch to deep left center that nobody was going to get to and North Colonie treated their fans to an exciting 6-5 victory. Eric Feiden was the winning pitcher in relief and Craig Ward reached base all five plate appearances.

There was also some web gems turned in by Blaise Agnew at third, Sean Fruscio in center and then the two teamed up on a play when Sean threw out a base runner from right center trying to go first to third.

6/28/03 - North Colonie continued to roll behind more strong pitching, hitting and defense to move forward in the 13 year old Babe Ruth tournament

Craig Ward got the starting nod on the mound and threw three innings of one hit ball, before giving way to Greg Razzano, who finished the game with three K's in two innings of work.

Craig also got the game started again by leading off with a walk, stealing second and even though he was cut down at third, the tone had already been set. With one out and Casey Haydock at third and Sean Fruscio at second, Eric Feiden hit a 2-2 right back up the middle to plate the first two runs. Then with two outs, the flood gates opened. Blaise Agnew singled in Feiden, David Bogdan's ground ball to the right side found a hole and so did Chris Manico's grounder to the left that  scored Agnew. Joey Graziano then laced a double to left center as did Craig Ward right behind him. After a walk to Haydock, Sean Fruscio singled for the second time in the inning driving in two and then Eric Feiden hit a long double to left center that brought the crowd to their feet. Eric would score on Drew Trance's double and when the dust cleared, North Colonie had pushed 11 runs across the plate.

Ward wasted no time retiring the opponents in the second and the home squad went back to work. With one out, Ward tripled over the center fielder's head and another walk to Haydock (and subsequent steal of second), put two runners on for Eric Feiden with two out. Eric's ground ball to third was thrown wide of first and gave No.Colonie their two runs in the second.

David Bogdan walked with one out in the third, stole second and moved over to third on the second out. David then scored on Craig Ward's base hit.

The fourth saw No. Colonie plate four more, when Sean Fruscio led off with a single, stole second and scored on Feiden's single to right that was misplayed into a three base hit. Erid scored on Drew Trance's second rbi single of the day and Blaise Agnew singled up the middle to move Trance and David Bogdan drove home the final run of the game for the second consecutive game.

Eric Feiden threw a 1 hit shut out while facing the minimum of 15 batters in the game. Eric also struck out eight while walking only two.

After striking out the lead off hitter in the first, he gave up his only hit of the game on a single to right. The runner was immediately erased on a nifty little 5-4-3 double play. Agnew to Haydock to Ward somewhat resembled Tinkers to Evers to Chance. His two walks were promptly erased by Mike Casey as they attempted to steal.

On the offensive end, Craig Ward led off the game with a double, stole third and scored on a wild pitch before Casey Haydock had a chance to get the bat off his shoulder. Casey would then single, steal second and score on Eric Feiden's double to left. Later in the first, with two out and two on, Blaise Agnew doubled down the right field line to bring home the last two runs of the first inning.

In the second, Sean Fruscio singled stole second  and came around to score when the throw went to center and Sean circled the bases.

The third inning starterd with a Drew Trance single to center, steal of second and scored on Ryan Gardner's grounder to third was thrown wide of first. Blaise Agnew then grounded to third as well and his counterpart made his second  throwing error of the inning. Joey Graziano ran for Blaise and after stealing second, he and Ryan scored on Mike Casey's single.

The final run of the game scored in the fourth, when Eric Feiden singled, stole second and easily trotted home on David Bogdan's hard line drive to right center.
