From the manager, Fran Scarlata 8/1/2002

I would personally like to thank Andy Purcell, Chris Meyer, and John Strizzi for all their help and hard work! I could not have done it alone!!!!!!!!

To my ballplayers:

I would also like to thank each and everyone of you guys for giving one hundred percent!!! You were a great group.  You really showed what the word team really means.

July 25: NC Blanks Brunswick, 3 - 0

Special Note to the Parents of the North Colonie National All-Star Team: You should be very proud of your child and their accomplishments. They were a great group of kids who handled themselves in a very respectful manner.

Congratulations to Fran Scarlata for managing the North Colonie National team to the round robin championship. Fran is a class act and made sure that all the players received an equal amount of playing time. What more can a parent ask for?  Thanks, Fran!

North Colonie could hardly keep their shirts on as they won the round robin tournament with a 3-0 win over Brunswick. Bret Watson led the offensive attack going 2-3 with 1 RBI. Stefan Scarlata was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Tom McDonald also had a multi-hit game going 2 for 3. North Colonie was threatening to break the game wide open in the top of the sixth with bases loaded and one out. Mike Mclosky fought off a tough pitch, hitting a pop fly behind pitchers mound where three Brunswick players assembled. All three players had a hand in making the catch and turned what should have been an infield fly, in to a never seen before quadruple play, ending the inning for North Colonie. As a result of the play, North Colonie will start next year’s district tournament with one out.

Tom McDonald pitched a complete game, facing 21 batters, giving up 1 hits, 0 runs, 2 walks, 14 strikeouts bringing his All-star pitching record to 5-0.
