For our 13 year
olds:
Our History:
In 2001, North Colonie earned District
Championships in both the 13 and 14 year old divisions. Both teams finished 2nd
in the Upper NY State Babe Ruth Championships losing to Guilderland and Saratoga
in the final games. Congratulations to Jack Soch, manager of the 14 year old and
to Jerry Francis who managed the 13 year old all stars.
In 2000, North Colonie continued the
excellence by winning District Championships at both the 13 & 15
year old levels and advanced to play in State Championship tournament.
Congratulations to Steve Frank, 15 year old team mgr. and to Shaun
Francis, mgr of the 13 year old team..
In 1999, all three ages participated
in the NY State tournament. Once again as was the case in 1998, our 14
year olds were State Champions and advanced all the way to the Babe Ruth
World Series. The team represented us well, finishing 5th in the nation.
Congratulations to mgr. Steve Frank. as well as to Vince Medici, 15 year
old mgr. and to Shaun Francis, mgr. of the 13 year old team.
Also In 1998, North Colonie won all 3
Babe Ruth District 4 All Star tournaments, a first for our league. All 3
teams advanced to the NY State tournament and fared well. The 1998
14 Year Olds, managed by Vince Medici, went undefeated in the
District 4 tournament and also went undefeated in the NY State
tournaments to capture the title and advanced to the Atlantic Regional
tournament in Amsterdam, NY where they finished 3rd.
ALL STAR teams for each age level will
be selected in June. It is our intention to select those players who
possess the highest levels of ability, commitment, and a positive
attitude. We will NOT select players for any other reason, specifically,
we will not select players on the basis of being sons of managers
or coaches. Our all star team managers will once again be independent
managers, having no relationship to team members. Even though, our
organization is fortunate to possess many fine managers who have sons
participating, we have found that the players
themselves respond and perform better
when a new, independent managers are introduced.
FALL BASEBALL will once again be
offered for players ages 13 through 18, as of August 1, 2001. The
fall baseball program provide an excellent means for players to play
more games and improve skills. Fall Baseball is a less competitive
environment where the coaches spend more time teaching skills and
fundamentals. The fall baseball season will run from roughly labor day
through mid October.
